Redme Note3 - Cannot install Samsung health

My phone is: MIUI Global 8.0.1.0 LHOMID Android version 5.1.1 LMY47V Baseband Version -8976_GEN_PACK – 1.60150.2.63218.1.
It can pair with my Samsung Galaxy Watch but will not install Samsung Health saying “Your device is not compatible” The watch is supposed to work with all Android Phones post version 4.
What do you suggest I can do to get proper functionality from my Watch? Do I need to run an alternative helth app on the phone that can connent to the watch. Can I upgrade Android version? Do I need to do this?
