Best quad for beginners

Advantages: I ordered this after little flying with my brother's plane. I think this is very good price and perfect for beginners like me to get some fly time.

Awesome entry level mid sized drone

Advantages: Unless you're crazy, with more money than sense, do NOT buy a $1,000 drone to learn how to pilot a quadracopter. The Syma X5C-1 is a terrific RC aircraft that isn't very expensive, but handles and flies in a way that feels like it's worth a lot more. It's extremely light, but don't be fooled into thinking it's not quality because of the weight. It's a LOT of fun to pilot. If this is your first drone, or you plan on flying this indoors to try it out, definitely put on the blade protectors. You don't want to destroy the props while you figure out controls. Also, make sure you understand how to switch from low speed (default) to high speed for outdoors to combat wind conditions. I lost my first X5C-1 in a residential area (wind gust took it over a house and far far away), but was able to but a replacement here on Gear Best without the controller or camera for cheap! Highly recommend this for the beginner to moderately advanced pilots.
Limitations: The free shipping takes a month...but it's FREE!!! Due to its size and speed, it's not great for indoors, and not for the totally inexperienced. Recommend ONLY flying it in large open spaces until you become familiar with the controls.

Great. great. just great.! :)

Advantages: Very light, very easy to fly with (even my son did his first flight within 15 minutes), so all I can say I was little bit worried, but you can safely buy this thing, and you won't regret. So, with extra protectors props are higly secured, and if dron hits the tree or wall, sinply nothing happends. Beside, of his weight it can fall down to the ground/soil/grass from height up to 3 metres (not concrete) and nothing breaks, Very elastic. When it hits the ground only thing you have to 'check' is battery/cam cover... it can flip out, but that's it. You can fly it with very high precission, and if you like you can make very high speed of your flight. Cam is very good and easy to control. Makes perfect videos at daytime.
Limitations: I don't recommend to fly it at windy weather, cause it can flip over easily and then you God helps if you are flying over water or roof's :) Battery life is from 7-10 minutes of active flight and that's unfortunately very low, so I highly recommend 3-4 batteries for longer flights. As any other cam, it doesn't work well at night. Very dark with lot's of noise, so night-videos are pretty bad.

Decent camera equipped quad at a fair price

Advantages: I've posted a couple videos on YouTube including: 1. My maiden flight when the X5C-1 was grabbed by a breeze and started to get carried away; I chose to ditch into the grass, no resulting damage. 2. Nighttime video test of the camera. This is NOT a low-light camera! 3. Battery life test. I got just under 7 minutes of controllable flight time while recording with the camera. I wouldn't expect much longer life when not recording, but completely removing the camera will probably give you another minute or so due to the lighter weight and lower wind resistance. PROS: Great price from GearBest Ready to fly out of the box - charge battery, push on landing skid and get airborne Good build quality, fit and finish Thermoplastic chassis and rotors are forgiving in a crash Decent video and still photo quality considering price 7 minute flight time isn't bad for a cheap quad, but additional batteries are cheap!
Limitations: CONS: Light weight and large surface area of chassis are susceptible to wind interference - a strong breeze will easily carry this quadcopter away Even a slight breeze will cause "buffeting" and result in shaky video Low Voltage Warning is unreliable and can't be seen if you're operating at any distance Maximum about 85 meter controllable range falls below the advertised specifications.

Review of the X5C-1

Advantages: For the money it's a deal Flies well outside in wind To sync quad and transmitter move throttle up and down. Left round button changes the hi/lo mode which can be changed while flying. Starts off in lo. Hi allows for faster maneuvers. Right round button does flips. Hold down button then use left or right lean. Make sure it's high enough. To turn on video press down throttle trim, camera light blinks red when on. Turn off video press it down again. Green when off To take a picture press up on the throttle trim. Comes with: Spare props, 2gb micro sd card, card reader, usb charger, 1 battery, prop guards, cameras attached to the quad.
Limitations: Card reader works off and on, the micro sd card fits loose, very cheap. Battery connection in the quad is a weak point. Make sure your battery is connected all the way and allow the battery to cool before disconnecting. Battery low warning is a flashing of the quads lights. It is inconsistent. You may get 1-30 seconds before the quad shuts down completely.

Definitely Worth The Price

Advantages: Just getting into the sport and wanted something a little bigger than the "mini's" yet not break the pocketbook. At the $50 price-tag, I think it's a great buy. It's large enough and has enough "bells and whistles" to make it an ideal starter set to learn flying and camera work before making a large investment. If you're just starting out, I have to admit that it's not quite as easy as it looks on youtube. It's obvious now that these guys aren't just starting out. BUT BE PATIENT and go slow in learning and you can do it. There's some good you tube videos on training on quad-copters. Look at them all. My biggest lesson...it's taken me a while to learn just how sensitive the controls are and that most of my problems resulted from "over steering" the drone. BUT, I'm getting better.
Limitations: as indicated in most reviews, the battery compartment is a very tight fit and there's really no wiggle room at all.I really have to work to get the battery door/Camera base to shut properly. As a beginner the ideal set up would contain GPS to help in overcoming some of our initial learning problems. Unfortunately, that adds considerable to the cost. However because of the popularity of quadcopters the price on these additions are considerably lowering. STILL... a good buy for the price!!
